Will it stand up on its own when full?

Yes. The canvas tensions across the base under the weight of the water, which is what holds the walls up.

Is it waterproof or just water-resistant?

It holds water for the length of a drink or a feed — that's what it's built for. It isn't a container to carry water in over distance. Use a bottle for that and fill the bowl at the stop.

Can I put food in it?

Yes. Dry food is straightforward. Wet food will need a proper rinse afterwards.

How is this different from the Pocket Bowl?

The Trail Bowl is canvas and looks like part of the collection — it's the one you'd want visible on a lead. The Pocket Bowl is silicone, wipes clean instantly and comes in two capacities. A lot of people carry both.

Does the carabiner take the weight when it's full?
