Why the gumline matters

Two minutes, most days.

Plaque is soft for around 48 hours. After that it mineralises into tartar, and tartar only comes off at the vet under anaesthetic. Everything home brushing does happens inside that window — which is why "most days" beats "properly, once a month".

The second benefit is one nobody plans for. Two minutes with your finger in your dog's mouth, a few times a week, means you notice a chipped tooth or a sore gum weeks before it would otherwise come up.

Home brushing supports dental care between check-ups. It doesn't replace professional cleaning or veterinary advice.

Helps lift plaque before it hardens into tartar

Supports healthier gums with regular use

Fresher breath — usually the first thing owners notice

Gets you looking in your dog's mouth regularly, which is how problems get spotted early

Is it for you?

Straight answer, both ways.

We'd rather you skipped this one than returned it.

Yes, if…

  • A stick brush has already lost you the argument
  • You want to start a dental routine and actually keep it
  • You want to spot a chipped tooth or sore gum early

Probably not, if…

  • There's already visible tartar — that comes off at the vet first
  • You're after a coat brush; this one is for teeth
Why it doesn't get done

Most owners give up in the first week.

Dental disease is the most common health problem in adult dogs, and the advice is always the same: brush daily. Almost nobody manages it — not because owners don't care, but because a stick brush turns the whole thing into a fight. The handle gets in the way, the angle is wrong, the dog pulls back, and after five nights you stop.

A finger reaches the gumline the way a handle can't. Your dog already tolerates your hand near its mouth. That's the whole difference.

Form Finger Brush — with dog toothpaste, styled flat lay

Most owners give up in the first week.

HOW TO USE

Starting from nothing

1

Week 1 — no brush

Just lift the lip and touch the gums with a bare finger. Ten seconds, then a treat.

2

Week 2 — brush on, no pressure

Wear the brush, run it along the outside of the teeth. Don't try to open the jaw.

3

Week 3 — slow circles

Small circles at the gumline, outer surfaces only. Dogs handle the inside far less well and it matters far less.

4

Then keep going

Two minutes, most days. Use a toothpaste made for dogs — human toothpaste isn't safe for them.

THE LONG RUN

What five years actually looks like .

Every piece is built to last five years of daily use. Here's what that actually means.

Week 1

It arrives and it fits

If the size is wrong, send it back inside 30 days. Unused and in its packaging, no questions asked.

Month 6

The point most kit gives up

Six weeks to six months is where cheap hardware greys, stitching frays and fill goes flat. If any of that happens here, it's a defect and it's covered.

Year 2

It looks used, not worn out

Both pieces age at the same rate, which is the point of buying them together.

Year 5

Still covered

The guarantee runs the full five years against manufacturing defects. Email a photo and your order number and a replacement ships free.

ASK AWAY

Questions we actually get

How often should I brush my dog's teeth?

+
Daily is the ideal. Most days is realistic and still worthwhile — plaque takes around 48 hours to harden, so the gap between brushes matters more than the length of each one.

My dog hates having its mouth touched. Where do I start?

+
A week of just touching the gums with a bare finger and a treat afterwards, before the brush appears at all. Rushing this stage is why most people give up.

Can I use my own toothpaste?

+
No. Human toothpaste contains ingredients that aren't safe for dogs. Use a toothpaste formulated for dogs, or start with a wet brush and nothing else.

Does it fit any finger?

+
It's sized snug to an average adult index finger. Snug is the point — a loose sleeve spins and you lose the pressure.

Does this replace a dental clean at the vet?

+
No. Home brushing works on plaque before it hardens. Once it's tartar, it comes off at the vet. Regular brushing is what stretches the time between those appointments.

Will one last?

+
Rinsed after use and air dried, it's a long-lived piece of silicone — and it's covered by the five-year guarantee against defects. Replace it if the bristles flatten.

How much is delivery?

+
Free on every UK order, with no minimum spend.

How quickly does it ship?

+
Dispatched within 1-2 working days of your order.

What if the size is wrong?

+
Send it back within 30 days, unused and in its original packaging, and we refund you.

Who pays return postage?

+
You do for a change of mind. We do if the item arrived faulty.

How do I claim on the guarantee?

+
Email a photo and your order number. We confirm within two working days and ship a free replacement.
IN PLAIN ENGLISH

Three words that actually mean something .

Every brand writes these on a label. Here is what they do.

Gumline

Where the tooth meets the gum. It is where plaque forms, and the exact place a stick brush cannot reach.

Plaque vs tartar

Plaque stays soft for around 48 hours. After that it mineralises into tartar, and tartar comes off at the vet.

One-piece moulded

No seam to split in a dog's mouth, and no bristle head to trap food and go off in a drawer.

GET IT WRONG

The three things people do anyway .

Not a warranty clause. Just what the return emails keep saying.

1
Starting with the brush on day one. Do a week with a bare finger first.
2
Using human toothpaste.
3
Going after the inside surfaces. Dogs tolerate it badly and it matters far less.
Looking after it

What to do, and when.

After each use

Rinse or wipe clean, air dry.

Every week or so

Silicone won't hold odours the way fabric does.

Every few months

Check the wear points. Material that is softening is normal. Material that is fraying, splitting or lifting is not — that is a defect, and it is covered.

Any time in five years

If it fails under normal use, email a photo and your order number. We confirm within two working days and a replacement ships free.
